María Secades-Fonseca obtained her BA in Philosophy from the University of Oviedo. After finishing her degree, she obtained a MA in in Teacher Training and a MA in Gender and Diversity. Currently, she is enrolled in the Gender, History and Biopolitics PhD programme at the University of Oviedo and enjoys a Severo Ochoa scholarship.
Her doctoral thesis, titled “Plato, Old age and Vulnerability", is supervised by Dr. Rosa Cid López. Some of her research interests are related to gender, ages, old age and vulnerability in ancient Greece, paying special attention to the work of Plato.
She is a member of the Demeter Research Group. Maternity, Gender and Family and she is involved in the research project granted by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO): Vulnerabilidad intrafamiliar y política en el mundo antiguo (VIPMA) [PID2020-116349GB-100 / AEI /10.13039/501100011033].
